right ive been thinking about changing Vinis colour from black to something else.

now i work in aldershot and drive regularly through northcamp were there is a company who do vehicle advertising and general vinal stuff, and i watched them (only for a bit while i was stuck in traffic) cover an audi salloon in white vinyl and it got me thinking whould it be cheaper to wrap the car or paint it???

answers on a post card

cheers

The wrap is cheaper ,go for it you can always go back to the paint later ,thats the beuty of the stuff ,only thing that lets it down is yer shut lines etc they dont do in there, but hay if yer colour of yer car goes with choice of wrap colour then all is good !

to do a half decent wrap, the mini needs good paint to start with - any rot present will simply show through, and may deterioate faster due to water getting trapped and not evaporating properly - dont consider a wrap as an alternative to repairing bodywork properly and getting the paint right.

if your shell is spotless, and re-built, you could wrap over primer I guess, but I've been told by all the reps selling wrap materials and sundries, the car has to be in tip-top condition prior to application.

So vinyl wraping ISN'T a viable option for hiding Poos rust then? Crap, time to crack open another tub of filler!!!

too ad ive just read on another fourm that for a good job consider 1000 - 1500 quid, so you dont save much from a paint job. Adn apprently the bad places leave scalpel marks under the vinal wen u come to remove it!

a wrap can be done for less than £1000.00 - a mini would be in the region of £600 - £700.00 in a single flat colour or matt black. A printed wrap is more like £1500.00 including application by a professional.

And you mock SFM for his car?

How about cracking open your bank account and buying a welder?

IMHO a single colour vinyl rap on a mini, to replace the paint will look cack. if it was like a full body wrap with a pattern on it it wouldnt look bad but from what roofless has said, it will end up more expensive than the paint work.

He's at uni, in his new house which has no internet, so he occasionally goes round his mates so he can come online.
