Induction Kit?

hi on my previous cars before the minis i have put that air duct/feed off the carb and a induction filter on the end of it to get more cold air in can i do this on the mini? and run the air duct to near the grill with a filter on the end?

It wouldn't work any better than a traditional filter, think of the front of your Mini as one giant duct/feed. There are also other ports on an SU carb that need to be fed air at the same pressure as the intake so you'd need some sort of plenum (airbox).

Do you have a picture of these ports? My mate rang me just the other day saying he had put a K+N filter on his S/U carbed mini and now it is under powered compared and running very lean to before. Never having worked on a mini engine before i was a little lost...

Do we need to adjust the mixture on the carb as well as feeding these ports?

yes you need to adjust the mixture as there is now more air getting into the engine than before hence its lean mixture , may even need a differant needle if exhaust is not standrad

Is this something i can do? i have access to an exhaust gas analyser and a good ear... Is there a bit of a guide on here?
