I have had to make a very hard decision today. Due to being unemployed and having difficulties finding a job I have come to the decision to part with my Mini.
This being my own Mini not the one in my avatar. I have owned her for the last seven years but due to the aforementioned financial difficulties I have been unable to run her. I have gone through every other option and it comes down to this. I am trying to look on the bright side of it I do still have my bro's Mini to work on and his g/f's and I could always get another one when I am a bit better off. I am off to have a little cry now :) :) :(

You have my sympathy MRM, I too am considering parting with my Mini due to current financial difficulties and I’m still employed !! The problem at the moment is that Classic Mini re-sale prices are down and I can’t see an upturn for at least a year.
Someone did mention to me that the car would probably return more £££’s if I were to split it up and sell as parts but that would be like chopping my arms and legs off !!

I value mine at around £5k so it is a lot of money to have tied up as an occasional drive vehicle, also have my 17 year old on the insurance which as you can imagine bumps the premium price right up?

What trade were you in before you were made unemployed?

I was in a company which made the steel support sections for stud walls in houses and such. It was all building trade related stuff and as we know that was the area that was hit hardest by the recession. I know it is going to be heartbreaking to strip it but Ive got to do what Ive got to do. Its either sink or swim now.

Don't talk to me about the construction industry, I worked for Rugby Cement for 25 years before being made redundant and I now work for a company selling back into the industry. Currently, Western Europe is on it's ASS so I am having to travel all over the world to find business. Going to Iran this Saturday and have been to wonderful places like Lebanon, Russia, Pakistan, Azerbaijan etc. trying to find business!!! (scary or what !!).
Just finished quoting a job for Iraq but draw the line at Baghdad :)

this may sound insane - why not sell a share in the mini - someone local or in your mini club could buy50% and you share ownership, insurance and running costs - If your not using it that much you wont miss the other person using it now and again.

I know loads of car share teams that own porshes, ferraris and other exotics - no reason not to consider it on a mini ??

that's a really great idea .... someone would probably love to have a share in a classic for occasional weekends etc.... bit like a share own of a plane etc!

Such a shame. Well get the details of who ever you sell it to. You may be able to buy it back some time in the future.

Unfortunately the car sharing thing isnt really an option as it is far from roadworthy at the moment. Not only that but I need a fair amount of cash and fairly quickly. I dont want to do it far from it but like I said earlier it is sink or swim now. I have tried everything else and it has come to this.
