the halfords classic 20w50 is fine for use in a standard engine, its a mineral oil aswell
normaly it will take just under 5 liters to fill up the sump, remeber to put a bit of oil in the filter berfore you screw it on so that it doesnt run dry whem you start.

I have just changed the oil in my mini form 10w40 to 20w50 and although the second gear synchro has always been poor (crunches every now and again) I have noticed with the 20w50 it is really really bad when it is cold but after about 5 min it is perfect no crunch at all, so i think its just a case of leaving it to warm up a bit, if your gears are poor with the 20w50 oil? .

At the minute its just a engine sat on the floor :D Getting a whole load of bits (mainly service parts and the bits that are missing) Within the next two weeks, so it'll be time to try running it up out of the car.

The mineral oil you posted a link for is the stuff I just bought from mini spares and it's not the stuff pictured. It's the Millers oil made specifically for the the classic mini. The stuff pictured

I've yet to put it in as the cars being worked on the finally answer the question of electric windows, central locking and mpi doors. Answers coming this tuesday!

I went from semi-synth to Halfords Classic and get a knocking now when the engines cold. Bit worrying really.

Which is about 1liter short of what a mini engine takes. Buy two, one to fill, one to top up.
