After a couple of very fun days fitting my engine im almost there. Me and my friend both with very little practical knowledge of engines well cars for that matter and a very half arsed set of tools set about fitting the engine on friday. Weve had a few moments where things didnt look to be at all in our favor but all in all its been such a laugh and weve come out the other side smiling so far (very sore knuckles mind). All we have left to do is fit the radiator and air filter and thats everything in place.
Now for your help, a few pointers on what to do next.
Whats sort of oil am i best using?
Is there a recognised way of checking over everything before first ignition?
Is there anything i should be expecting when i do first turn the key?
Anything else you might think i need to do, even if you think its tiny with our limited understanding we could have easily looked over it.
Thanks in advance Pete

oil i'd go for some cheapo 20/50 and run it for 50 miles or so to flush out any crap. then swap it for some decent 20/50, either millers or the halfords stuff will do the trick.
before you fire her up remove the plugs and disconnect the electric fuel pump and spin her over on the starter to make sure it builds oil pressure.
after that just get her running and look out for leaks and stuff.
