After posting a couple of questions and a several answers in the technical area of the forum I thought I should introduce myself.

The names Gareth Taylor I am 24 from Doncaster. (25 next month… I feel old)

I have just bought a 1991 mini Mayfair, standard engine had some bodywork and a previous home respray.

Previously owned minis were:
1978 mini Mayfair owned for about 2 years but sold on due to moving house and losing space and some of the cars had to go.
1989 mini racing green edition also a 998 this was my first car. Sold after I left home to fund deposit on first house.

I don’t know loads about minis but know a little about 60’s-70’s british cars.
Rebuilt a spitfire from the ground up
Rebuilt a GT6 mk3 from a load of old rust (never again what a money pit)
So had a little thing for triumphs for the last 5 years owning TR7’s GT6’s spitfire’s a dolomite sprint and a rubbish morris marina????
But non of them compare to the mini, I was bound to comeback to the mini one day.

I do like to modify classics but only the engine and running gear I like them to look really standard or as much as possible hence the name retrosleeper.

I am from Doncaster and hope to attend as many events as possible I am not a show kind of person but like events where I can drive the car.

Don’t ever mind giving any other owners help if I can. So if your in the area and you need someone to come and give you a hand just ask.

Wow that’s a long blurb. Hope that bore you to much

Hi Gareth and welcome to TMF

I'm from sunny Scunny so not a million miles away from you and I belong to Trent Valley MOC which is a tad too far for you to come for club meetings, but if we're having a drive out your way I'll let you know ;)

FABMOC have their meets in Doncaster, but not quite sure where, just check out their website and I'm sure you'll be able to tag along

Have fun in your Min and enjoy yourself on here

Rach :closed:

Edit - doh that pesky miniman retford got there before me, but it's good to see that great minds think alike

I go to a car meeting in Scunthorpe on Wednesdays at the football stadium it’s a mix of everything been several times this year in the old spitfire and GT6.
Not been in the mini yet. Not sure I will as some of them gave me very disproving looks when I cheered as one of the ford boys left leaving a massive pile of tyre smoke in the car park. Very good food though.

I've not been to that for a while - was it Scunthorpe and District Classic Car Club?

Next time you're going let me know and I'll get a few TVMOC members to meet you there - safety in numbers and all that

I'm secretary and events organiser for TVMOC, so yes I go to the meets in Corringham with TVMOC on the third Wednesday of the month :P as it's quite a trek for me to get to the other side of Donny but as you said there's nothing to stop you going to them both and see what everybody's up to

By the way, where are you based?

See you soon - but I won't be at the TVMOC meeting next week as I've got other plans and the November meeting is the AGM, so probably not a good one to have as your first one lol and then it's the Christmas meal - yum yum yum, bring on the sprouts :P

We're having a run on 8th November up the east coast - Whitby/ Scarborough area if you want to join us, just let me know

See you soon?

Rach

No probs, that's what being on a forum is all about - asking advice and getting it

Have fun tonight, but most of all hope you have a great rally in Holland, and be sure to take plenty of pics
