Hi all. After a serious "sesh" in the village pub I got all melancholy and bid for a Cluby Estate on eBay. When I woke up in the morning I had a "vague" recollection of doing so and checked my eBay!! Oh sh#t!! I'd won it! Try explaining THAT one to the wife! After making her breakfast in bed and "fessed" up and was told "no problems, you'll have to sell the Stag" (my 1972 pride and joy). Anyway, I collected the Cluby which had been sat pretty much idle for 3 years and deliberated as to what to do next....sell it on and keep my Stag or sell the Stag and give the Cluby a second chance? So, it was bye bye Stag and hello spanner knuckles. I got the Cluby back home and decided that a FULL srtip and rebuild, both body and mechanically was the way forward....and I wasn't even drunk! Amazingly it went through it's MOT with only a bottom ball joint and the rear brakes requiring any work/replacement. I took the Cluby to my works unit and am SLOWLY dismantling it. I say slowly because some days I have no time and others as much as an hour to work on it! Anyway, I have posted a few pics for your entertainment and I'll keep updating as I progress.....this could be a VERY long thread!
Thus far I've stripped out the inside and, 2 ball joint splitters later, got the engine and box out. The car had been well and truely *illegitimate person*ised by the previous owner so it's not the straight forward job I had hoped it would be!!
Cheers.....Dave

Cheers guys. Jack, that steering wheel is just part of it mate! He'd hand sawn a piece of 22mm plywood for a dash and jigsawed it out for the clocks. The wheel is held on by 3 screws!!! He also glued a wooden "ball" to the gear lever for a knob! (now there's a good word to describe him!).He screwed and glued architrave around the rear windows!! He'd welded what looks like a filing cabinet base onto the floor as seat mounts.....it goes on and on and on......... He also told me it was blue (i'm colour blind, apparently so is he!). I'm going to spray electric blue but add some blue/silver holographic flake in the lacquer, should look great.
I'll post more pics as it progresses so you can see what's happening

Yep. Complete nightmare. I think it will look great when I'm done though. Getting a lot of satisfaction just getting all the crap bits off it so I'm going to take my time and try to do a "proper job".
Cheers....Dave

Thanks Guys. I'm enjoying it as it progresses. I've bought some Metro seats which I've had mounts made for and I'm "spraying" them with an aerosol material dye (blue and red). Having a few issues there too....but that's another story. One point, as the engine is already non standard, I'm considering dropping a 1100cc GTA into her. 5 gears, unleaded, injected, etc, etc. Not overly bothered about power(although it should by slightly better) more with reliability and economy. Any thoughts?

Regards.....Dave

P.S.....I'm sober!

Well. After a few days of doing nothing to the old girl, today I finally found time to sand blast the lump! Hope the pics upload!! This is what 2 hours and 2 bags of Jewsons finest Kiln Dryed gets you!! My first time sand blasting so didn't know what to expect... fairly happy with the results. Just needs a bit of a de-grease in places then another blast.
Note to self......Wear a hat and ear muffs!!! lol. Got a beach worths in my ears and hair (whats left of it!)

Bum, pics won't upload and I haven't a scooby how to use photobucket!
