Hi all. Apart from my 1977 Cluby Estate and my daily drive a 5.7lt Monaro, I also have a 1964 Mk1 Cortina. Problem I've got is the Tina needs a bit of tarting up and, because she's so original, I don't want to get the paint colour wrong. Being a 64 she doesn't have a VIN plate (they came out in 65) so I haven't a scooby as to the colour. It's a really pale blue but, to complicate it even further, Ford did 3 similar blues!! All look "about right" but when you see the together they are literally a shade or 2 out. Do any of you know how I can track down the exact colour match??

Hi again. Bugga, I've been on that Aussie site before. It's a great site but they say refer to the ID Plate (VIN) which mine doesn't have!!! Short of getting it custom mixed (a bit OTT for 2 cans of aerosol) I can't think what to do.

Do Ford have a kind of set-up like the Heritage Centre with all the archive records? They can give certificates for BMC made cars with all the original manufacturing details on them including the colour.

If it is that original I would be getting the paint custom mixed as it will no doubt have faded anyway. I doubt it would cost that much more than 'off the shelf' paint and would come in cans with better nozzles and not 75% proppellant!
