i think most of them are fitted too 1275's,
i think( dont quote me)
1. is a crank case breather
2. is an oil breather pipe that goes onto the carb? i think thats right but not too sure?
would be interesting to know if theres any benifit of having little filters instead.

Generally they are fitted to road going cars by people who don't understand the system they are pulling out and replacing with them. They don't understand what it's for or what it's doing or why it's good for their engine. They want to copy race cars, and as I often say race parts are for race cars. The general purpose of them is to allow the inside of the engine block to fill with sludge and varnish, degrade the engine oil rapidly and cover the engine bay and everything in it with a thin film of oil.
People think they are a performance modification that will allow the engine to spin more freely and clean up their inlet charge. In reality they are worth very little in terms of performance and have all the downsides listed above.

They are crankcase breathers, but not a good idea, the original breathing system is connected to the carburettor to provide a partial vacuum in the crankcase, this helps to keep the crankcase free of dense fumes & at times condensation, it also helps to reduce the chance of oil leaks, particularly through the primary gear bushes, where there is no seal between gear & crank.

The factory system is pretty efficient and does a good job, as Dan says many people buy them to either "Increase performance" or to look pretty. stay away
