Project thread to be started as soon as his bank account recovers from the trauma of buying >_<

But this, ladies & gents, is Monty's younger 'brother' The Green Goblin. So named because he's green and busy gobbling all my brother's money!

He still has his original service manual, sales receipt, owners manual and In-Car Entertainment manual in the official grey, Rover folder. Two owners from new and looks very good for his age we think.

All for the princely sum of £675 with T&T. Not at all bad for a first car.

looks tidy,

my first car was shared with my mum was an M reg 1.1 metro and was a cracking car!!

then moved onto a 1.4 SL (wooooooooooooo!!) which was an xr2 chaser!!!

couldn't fault them and looked good with the suspension let down, 13's and a janspeed back box >_<

Technically, I know it's called a Rover 100 >_< It's actually the 'Knightsbridge' edition...hence 'posh' interior. Nothing can change the fact that it's merely an updated version of a Metro though :-

Price has already been given >_< £675.

He couldn't afford a Mini. Plain and simple, he needs a running car not a rusty project and with this being at the very top end of his budget you wouldn't get a Mini in similar condition at this price. Not to mention the insurance on a Mini for him is astronomical.

I did try to persuade him to get a Mini, but he wanted a 5-door, 5-speed - so we compromised with The Goblin, a 'cousin' of Monty's *Grins*

This lil fellow is £1200/yr. A Mini of similar age was about £300 on top of that as he's too young to be allowed a classic policy.

He looks like a lovely motor - and a 'posh' interior as well? Smart

We've had a couple of MG Metros - and the Arctic White one (I think that was the colour) was a turbo, so went like the wind :withstupid: I absolutely loved it and it had the grey interior with red seatbelts etc, so very smart. If I could get another one in decent condition , I'd have one tomorrow >_<

A great little car, and I hope he enjoys it :-

As much as I hate to admit it.. a Metro for £675 is a much better bet than a Mini for the same price.. >_<

As long as that 'K' series doesn't kill it's headgasket straight away, it'll be trouble-free, quiet, comfortable, nippy and economic!

The 8v K series seem to be pretty reliable - my 1.4 had me and my brother abusing it and never failed - except when the alternator went and left me in the dark and the the dizzy cap fell off and broke the rotor arm (doing well in excess of the speed limit at the time >_< )

Metro looks good, parts are easy to get,a good buy green gobblin, nice nick name, had the toy car in box of that model and sold it for a great price.Have had 3 metros in the past including the early white Turbo model with tinted windows etc.. that one was expensive on engine re-builds,would have loved the lump in a mini felt a bit like NODDY in it.enjoy and check the anti -frez. for winter.
