Find one in a breakers from a modern car with three terminals add an extra earth wire to it and you'll have loud clicks, also flashers that work at a constant rate too rather than the often haphazard old style ones.Ah.. I have a non genuine one, you can't get the geuine old type that mounted to a bracket any more. It makes no noise whatsoever, and during the day I often leave them on by accident because I can't see them due to my steering wheel/seat position. I'll try the non side indicator type one, and mount it somehow, I'm thinking a massive home made P clip!!

EDIT
terminal wiring for modern flashers
#49 is the 12V power. (ignition feed)
#31 is a Ground.
#49a goes to the signal switch. (to indicator switch)

Brilliant! May seem like a stupid question, but how do I determine which is the flasher unit? I know of a Renault clio and a BMW 318 I can maybe "borrow" one from.
