Yes it does......don`t say we did not warn you when you find the piston has made its way into the gearbox.

not always depend on lift of the cam and where the valves have been let into the head with spacers under the valves

have seen 12g940 heads run on standard 998,s with no mods

but to get the best out of it head needs skimming to raise the compression ratio then need to mod either the head or the block

to be fair i did have a 12g940 head with a 60thou skim on a standard 998 block, there was slight marks on the block when the head was removed but it never once damaged or affected the performance other then improving on fitment
but this time i will be running a 286sp kent cam, so i think a mod made be needed, i just dont know where to get it done locally

some people are doing this modification in the block:
http://f.lourot.free...e1300sur998.pdf

but,if the cams are original (the case of my engine), i think, that is not necessary do that to the block. Now if the cams is another i belive, is necessary to do this modification

iv not really looked into this yet, but the guy in the unit next to me wants to build a 998 for his boy and put a 12g940 large valve head on it.

He wants to fit a bigger cam, so will be pocketing the block.

Is there any other modifications that need to be done? also what head gasket is used?

But if you're doing this mod then you're obviusly after more power, so why anyone would want to use a standard cam makes the mod a bit pointless...

Here's the head gasket to use. I've got one on mine and it's brillant. Solves the problem of waterway alignment superbly

the reason i id it beofre was just to give it a bit more power within about 40 minutes work rather then a engine out jobby, but this time i plan on doing it properly

If you buy the gasket set in the link you'll get a 1275 gasket that's been adapted to ensure a good seal round the waterways in your small bore block. A standard gasket would be prone to letting water underneath it causing failure later on :genius:
