What Is Leaking And Will It Be Expensive To Fix?

hi looked under my mini today and noticed a leak coming form the sump, just wondering what has casued this and is it something bad?

cheers, by the way the bolt in the picture is where it is leaking from.

Thats the sump plug. It has a copper washer under the head which seals it. Replace the copper washer that cost about 5p and that'll sort it. Remember, don't over tighten the sump plug!

Just noticed you're in coventry, which part do you live in? I'm here doing motorsport and powertrain engineering at the uni.

Just wondering if the original poster could repost the photo. I have an oil leak from what I think is the same spot. Hard to tell though I get home late and it's too dark out to take a photo.

If it is the sump plug Minispares do a nylon washer that should do a better job than the copper one. Best to wait to the next oil change if you can.
