hi everyone

just got a quick question about my Exhaust manifold.I just bought a 1275 engine of ebay with a Hif44 Card on it.I've gone to change the exhaust manifold over for a new one which i bought off a friend. When i took the old exhaust manifold off i noticed that the holes had slightly been bored abit on the head and on the Manifold and that there was two metal rings sat inside which sit touching the head and the old manifold but still it sits flush on the gasket and head. When i put my new manifold against the head it is slightly smaller holes but it sits nice and flush against the head and gasket but i can't use these rings i found. Will this be a problem???????? should i put the old manifold back on with the rings or can i use this new manifold?????
any ideas?

cheers

Do these rings sit inside the pipe or are they like a spacer shim?

They sit inside the manifold pipe and inside the head.Halfway in each.

In that case they are the locators for the manifold they are there to make sure that the head and the manifold line up perfectly.

As far as a know they are *needed*, but will help inscrease gasflow.

I could be worth looking into getting your new manifold shaped to match so the locaters will go in nicly, but as i am not an expert on the subject im not sure how it would be done, or if you can do it your self.

Sounds like you have a nicly ported head, and posibly a more modifed engine.

Do you think it would make much difference if my new maifold holes are slightly smaller than the head holes.i've fitted new studs and it sits nice but i dont want to do anything just incase it effects the performance etc.The Carb sits and fits great on the other end of the manifold.

You wont get as good a gasflow, but theres not reason why it wouldnt run, you just wouldnt be getting maximum performance from your setup.
