Just something some of you younger drivers may not have thought about.

When getting you own insurance, see if it makes a difference to your insurance if you add a parent. As long as they have been driving a while and have a clean licence you may be pleasantly surprised.

Just got been on compare the market . com and with my 54 year old mother added to the policy it knocked £160 off the premium on.....................This quote is based on a 2008 Lamborghini Gallardo Spyder, 4961CC Petrol, 2DR, Manual................. so it'd only cost me
£779.30 to insure a year :)

Ha ha, wish I could get insured on a Lambo for only £779.30. I tried adding a parent on my Mini and it made it more expensive, Direct Line can be weird though!

I'm not buying a Lambo, just sat bored when I ought to be completing an assignment and a presentation for Friday. Brains all maxe'd out after todays lesson prep. Not that it takes a lot to max out.

Also had This quote is based on a 2003 Tvr T350C, 3605CC Petrol, 2DR, Manual....................£540.66 Both quotes Fully comp.

Does this mean I'm depressingly old at 32???

I've had my Dad on my policy for years - he never drives my cars but it knocks about 20% off my premium and I'm 37!

Ditto, the more drivers the better!

I have both of my parents on my insurance, I don't even live with them and it still saves me about 25% (I'm 24 with 4 years NCB)

When my sister turned 17, my dad added my mum and me to the insurance before her and it means that she is insured as a learner for £380 FC (that's for all 4 of us)!!! So cheap :(

Insurance is a very big sob_ject for all of us,im over 40 it does get cheaper over time.If you reg. the car in the mom or dad name they put you on the policy it saves you loads but no bonus for you,if you have a bump well you have to explain to them.Years ago cars were dear but the legal extras were cheap, one big one they got me on a few years ago,i did not insure a car for a few years playing with my bikes when i bought a nice car they told me i had lost my fully protected bonus ,it cost me loads at my age on group17,sold it after one year.Try and get a good low miles fully comp if you can. Some companys will let you pay over 11 months interest free on direct ferret.Happy Hunting
