hi, its been a while since iv looked into this.

does anyone know of any aftermarket ecus that can be run instead of/alongside the existing mpi ecu, so that the engine can be prepped to a higher state of tune?

Hi,

Just received an Email from Emarald: Emerald3D not handling twin points (MPI).

You should also look at: http://www.canems.co...udy/mpimini.php

Hope it helps.

IMHO: I think a lot of job have been done on SPI, MPI is at the begining or not so modified/documented. I seek for an SPI (as my MPI was stolen by some baaastards!)

Vmax scart have just released a mappable injection kit, with the emerald k3 as the ecu. Sounds like hell of a kit, with twin 38mm throttle bodies and a wideband exhaust sensor option, but its really expensive, like 1500 notes. Means you could run a madly tuned engine with twin point though so I'm sure someone will buy it!

The Vmax SCART new option looks interseting, but it a lot more than an ECU.

MPI MAPPABLE INJECTION KIT

Long has been the problem of the standard injection system coping with engine mods on and MPI mini, now the answer is here; A kit to replace the standard engines inlet manifold and throttle body with a twin throttle (38mm bore each) body arrangement , basic map installed mappable ecu (Emerald K3) , all necessary fittings , stand alone fuel pressure regulator, air filter and instructions, ALL FOR ONLY £1500

Upgrade to wideband exhaust sensor and let the ecu self map and fine tune while you drive: add £185

And the super charger has always been interesting but expensive:
RECESSION BEATING MPI kit

Modified super charger , stainless inlet manifolds , Basic pre-mapped Emerald K3 ecu, wiring pin data ,air temp bracket ,fuel pressure, air filter , regulator, belt , tesioners , gaskets , decompression plate ,fuel hose , stainless fuel clips , large capacity performance water radiator instructions

* some parts will require minor modifications £2395!!!!

Welsh Dan:
I saw your post on turbo minis and will be following it. I am interested in the megasquirt use as well and I am worried that I will be able to cope with the issues surrounding the use of MS technology.

My use and approach is a little different though. I plan to integrate the MPi engine into a Traveller first just using it in normally aspirated application with mapped ignition and then tackling the full use of FI in the car as a stepped approach.

I have a spare MPi engine I purchased for the spare sensors and now it seems like it would be a good idea to make use of it as the Traveller engine is aging. By doing this in steps I can tackle problems in stages.

Engine bay issues, ignition issues, fuel tank issues and others as they arise.
