I think this maybe a dumb question but i have a 93 rover mini rio, does it have a rev limiter on the engine from stock? I don't think so, but i need to know as i was looking at the omex rev limiter system as it looks like quite a nice gadget to have so i decided i NEED one, i just wanted to know if anyone could answer this for me and maybe if someone already has a rev limiter, how do they like it?

Thanks in advance to anyone for your help, George. :D

If the engine is standard, you'll not need a rev limiter...

You don't really need one on a standard engine...

If your really going to buy one, you may aswell get one that'll give you another benefit. For example megajolt, or launch control.

Lol get yourself a lighter right boot, they are much cheaper than a rev limiter. Just learn to use the cars power band, like where the power begins and where it ends.

I was looking at the system with launch control anyway.

My engine is currently at the equivalent of stage 1 and i will be adding a new head and rockers very soon then a new cam when i can afford to to take it off the road, but i think that it would have its benefits on any stage of engine without a rev limiter as standard as for starters it will stop you from revving too high.

Yeah i know i don't find it a problem doing that anyways its just another gadget haha, and i know its not necessary but there not very expensive so i was just looking into it. :D

It would be a pointless gadget in my opinion...much better to spend money on some good suspension and tyres.

I do believe most Minis were fitted with a system called val-vebounce. Anyone else heard of it?

Quite likely both the SPI & MPI have some rev limiting.

Points bounce too by the way.

I wish mine did that sometimes, I can go a bit overboard on the revs when pushing it.

But as said a standard engine will not realy need a rev limiter, the valves would bounce before you did major damage.

Also what engine is this launch control going on?

I don't really know how effective the 'launch control' will be but its just another feature on the system i was looking at, the engine it will be going on eventually will be a fast road spec 1275 i'm going to be building, nothing really major it will have a 12G940 head, 1.5:1 rockers and hopefully kent 276 cam for now.

Already done.
