I started some time ago looking and dreaming of building a Zcars Mini BEC

Then I drifted back to kit cars, Indys , Vortx and so on....

However after seeing some videos of the Italian hillclimb/slalom series Ive opted for a Fiat 126 mounted onto a spaceframe.

Wishbone front suspension/coils, fully rosejointed front & back end, wide arch kit to accomodate the wider track, bike engine, chain drive LSD.

The similarity with my plans and the spaceframed Minis on here is obvious, but who has done this here.

What were the major problems encountered ?

Any suggestions ?

The diff came from the PH Site, was destined for a Van Diemen BEC.

Pleased you like the start of the project, I will keep posting as and when I have progressed.

The Fiat even has the retro style black number plates with white letters.

Looking for 250bhp +

One potential problem I can see is the lack of room to mount the blackbird engine with the chain assembly, even the mini which has a 7.5" longer wheelbase it is mighty tight to get it all in and have reasonable space for the driver

Cheers

Yes the wheelbase is tight but It will all fit....handling Im not so sure, a longer wheelbase would cope better with the power but we shall see.

Im 5.8" tall so legroom will be adequate, its not a car for touring Europe in....

Locost fully adjustable front wishbones, protech coilovers,Wilwood four pot calipers, Rally design uprights, anti roll bars (not sure yet), fully rosejointed front & back.

Probably MK4 Golf rear calipers (handbrake), Stainless custom exhaust manifold/system. A re-wire, full harnesses,Shell seats, 13" alloys (not sure type), paddle gearshift.

It will probably stay in white with a few Abarth badges discretely placed.

Loads still to do, so being a total garage head I have no timescale on this ,I simply enjoy the working in my garage. And yes I will post pics as I go.
