I think I've got problems with the earths on my mpi cooper, battery charge is fine but it starts slowly and then starts to turn over quicker after a while, I would think starter motor was knackered but also having problems with the radio cutting out briefly when I turn the lights on and other silmilar things. so I'd like to clean the erathing points. where are they? Think i've found one on a bracket left hand side as you look from the front about 4 inches in front of the tower mounts, but it doesn't look all that chunky, are there others? where? o

obviously there is one straight from the battery to the chassis as well.

cheers for absolutely anything people reply.

i know that there is a point under the bonnet just follow the wing up to the bulkhead fro the bonnet saty holder on the left hand side as you look at it with the bonnet open.

I have just cleaned these up on my car but i think there are still some more i need to clean but haven't found them yet.

My fog lamp doesnt work and i am pretty sure its an earth fault

Hope this helps

On the most excellent TMF CD. Look in GWs signature.

Well worth it, as demonstrated just now. :cheese:

missing the main earth from the battery  other than that quality cheers.

had a look at the main earth on the battery yesterday, it had pretty much rusted through, the bolt was solid and had to sheer it and cut the wire off, need to get a new loop on the end now but just got the wire bodged in at the moment and it startd perfectly again and can run everything and flash the headlights with no problems!

I replaced my battery earth strap simply as a precaution, another good idea is to spray wax oil on where the earth connects to the body and on the battery terminals, and the battery box, that way you prolong the life of each. :w00t:
