This is the first time I've heard of someone wanting to do this. Is there a reason behind it, or do people just like the look?

I like the look, but i think with a mini, where the arches are more of an add on, i think the tyres/wheel would just scrape even more than they do normally over bumps. Thats if your cars lowered which alot are...

I'm running 175/50's; 13x7 in the rear and 13x6 in the front. I just took the rack stops out and I only have 1/4 inch of clearance when the wheels are turned and the suspension is bottomed out. I definitely couldn't fit 13x7's in the front and especially not 13x8's.

What do you mean you took the rack stops out? Thats what they're there for, if you take them out of course your going to have clearance issues.

I have 13x7's on my car, which is lowered a fair bit at the front and can get full turns lock to lock with no clearance issues.

Long story short, I took one of the gators off the steering rack to diagnose a problem. I found the rack stop and figured that's why my turning radius was so horrible. So I removed them. At the worst case, when the wheel is turned full lock, and the front suspension is bottomed out, I still have 1/4 inch of clearance. So I have no clearance issues at all.

But if my wheels were any wider I definitely would. (unless I raised my car)

There's no need to have the rack stops in if I don't need them. They just make the steering suck.

Rack stops are better used to protect the steering/suspension components when a car is being driven especially hard. Like if you're braking considerably hard with the wheels turned full lock. It's going to put an extreme amount of stress on the steering system. The rack stops prevent you from getting the front wheels at such a harsh angle.

its the look...and could somebody tell me what the lug pattern is on a 92 mayfair 4X101.6 (4X4") or is it 4x100...will 4x100 wheels fit 4x101.6. and what is the offset of an OEM 12" Rover Cooper Wheel?

and this guy is running Superlite Alloys on 175/50/R13 Pirelli P7F Tyres. http://www.freewebs....featurecars.htm

Hate to be a killjoy but stretched tyres probably invalidate your insurance!

Steve...you are completely right...if I was insured in the beautiful UK...but I'm in Canada, and there s not restrictions on how wide or how much poke wheels pass the fender line  .

So...anybody can tell me what the bolt pattern is on these machines...im confused since some are running 4x100 wheels and some 4X101.6???

Thanks

Great thanks...I did some research and I guess one way of running 4x100 wheels on a mini is to use wobble bolts...not sure how safe that is???

Thanks Again!
