Hi guys,

Been stripping down my 1275 today and ive come to remove the head and it wont budge an inch, ive removed everything that needs to be removed (removed heads in the past) and usually with a block of wood and a lump hammer it splits from the block, but after 3 split and battered blocks of wood it wont budge. Ive sprayed wd40 down the head studs and left it overnight now to see if it will budge in the morning, but does anyone have anymore ideas?

Thanks.

Paul.

Fit the starter motor and spin it over, never failed me in the past.

Remove the studs with a stud extractor or 2 nuts tightened together on each stud, then try again

you may find that the centre front stud is the culprit here :D ...... therefore remove all others and turn the head, using it as a spanner would undo a nut..

Ah, may be onto something there, the center stud did look a bit seized.

Fit the starter motor and spin it over, never failed me in the past.

Im in the middle of stripping it down so the flywheels off, transfer case, timing chain etc...

Thanks for the replies guys, will give this a bash tomorrow.

Any more ideas feel free to put them up.

Paul.

Its ok mate I've got prybars .

Dont really like the idea of prybars running the risk of cracking the head or damaging mating faces.

Now that you have it off, don't be temted to open up what appears to be a tight bore for that centre front stud to pass through. It acts as the head dowel to get the alignment right, that's why it has less clearance.
