Hello, I'm Aaron out of the Pacific Northwest, more specifically a small town near Portland, Oregon called Newberg.

I'm a new, classic Mini owner and I'm quite excited about the prospects this brings. Right now I'm trying to absorb as much information as I can, while tinkering here and there.

My car is a 1971 Austin Mini 1000. I believe it was imported and sold as new back in '72 in Canada. Since then it's been through the hands of I don't know how many other owners. Even after all that time it's still in decent shape and is quite mechanically sound.

The paint job I expect is rather more familiar to my British brethren and for the previous owner it was an intentional nod to Mr. Bean. The green itself is a factory color, but the previous owner also did a respray on a few panels and didn't really match the shade. No matter there as I intend to fully strip the paint, repair all the dents and respray it.

Other than that previous owners have done a few minor engine tweaks, some suspension work, and added the Minator alloys. I myself have just finished installing and relaying some Wipac quadoptic headlamps and early model front turn indicators.

Anyway, here's a picture of my little beastie as it was before my lighting work. I'm sure I'll have more later.

Well thanks.

It's not always sunny, but that was a pretty nice day. To serve as the counterpoint, today I had to clear the storm drains on my street as the heavy rain and leaves conspired to flood nearly the entire road and our neighbor's garage.

Hi there! Welcome to TMF! I'm a yank too! I am stationed at RAF Mildenhall with the USAF (My wife is the Airman)! That is a really nice little Mini you got there and I like the shade of green too! I look forward to seeing more of you on here, it's a great site (the BEST mini related site on the net!) and there are some great people here. Lot's to learn! At some point I'll be starting a thread chronicling my 1982 Vauxhall 2.0L powered Mini so please keep an eye out! It's sure to be a winner and with luck I'll be able to get it in a Mini Magazine! That would be a story to tell my buddies back in Pennsylvania! "Hey man! When I was in England I bought this cool little car and rebuilt it from the ground up....THEN it got featured in a magazine!" They'll all be offering me thousands of $$$$ for it but I won't budge! It's MINE! Lol!

Anyhow, see you around man! :)

Welcome to TMF Aaron!

I must say, even if you're concerned about the different shades of your mini, it still looks beautiful :) His rusty relatives send a honk from the UK :P

I hope you find all the advice and help you need on here, feel free to ask anything, they really know their stuff!

Have fun :)

Thanks all for the warm welcome and the compliments. :)

As most of my projects go, this will take some time, but I'll share as much as I can as far as my progress goes. I'm a big fan of the search button so I'll only bother you with questions when I'm truly stumped.

Hi Kombi

Welcome to TMF.

I love Oregon. I have been to Beaverton a number times for work. Travelled around the area, made a trip to Seaside and dipped my toe into the Pacific for the first time. Would love to go back sometime in the future. Has to be the nicest and friendiest state. So many memories of the place.

Keep us all posted with any updates with your project.

Jay

Cool deal, I'm about 20 minutes south of Beaverton in a small rural community. I personally love the coast and Seaside can be a nice place, but next time you're over here you should try Newport (freshest Sushi at Sada's) or Cannon Beach (trendy coastal town). For some good cheesy treats Tillamook is a great town too on account of the Tillamook Cheese Factory there.

Sorry, it seems to be the habit of Oregonian's to become an instant tour guide when we learn someone has an interest here. :-
