Our power went out at 11.45 pm on friday and didn't get fixed till early hours of Sat morning. Well over the 24hrs that seems to be the point at which you can claim?
Utter PITA, no TV(or x-factor..................yay!!!)/interweb/heating/lighting etc.
Got a ruck of freezer stuff that we're a bit suss about eating.
I know I can claim on the house insurance but don't really want to lose my no-claims for the sake of £150.
Anyone ever claimed straight off the 'leccy company?

you can only try speaking to the supplier and asking about there policy for such circumstances.
i'd suggest trying to get your neighbours onside too

but like i said i'd try and get some neighbours on side as they may try and fob you off if it's just you on your own.

I had 2 freezers, no hot water, sweet *lady garden* adams in fact! I couldn't even go to the gym for a shower as they didn't have power either. Luckily it was during July and the days were long and we lived on salad and bread.
We've given up with any further claims which I know if the wrong attitude as it is like me saying to them, well never mind it doesn't matter, but I simply can't be bothered to argue any more with insurance and the electricity company.

i didn't honestly think you'd even do that well, did you happen to find out what sort of time span is needed in order to qualify for the brucie bonus?

£50 is better than nothing, I had to listen to Mrs Shifty Moan all day as well!!
(mind you I think she thinks she's having the money.....pah!!)
The freezer stuff hasn't killed us yet either!!

I'm sure some of the things in our freezer are older than the kids - its a kinda ice-age scene in the back there - peas and sprouts frozen solid in mid suspension that may be anything up to 10 years old

* PS trailer thing very good, but new one from PPG only 200 quid more ! *

It wasn't quite that bad here, mind you the local pub had to cancel the fireworks display, does that count??
