Like the title says really.

I got a 1998 mpi and as soon as i get in in the mornings all windows fog up bad so i cant see a thing. Even with the engine reving a bit and the window blower on full speed nothing happens. It stays like it for about 30 mins or until you drive at at least 50mph for 5-10mins (but not the best of things when your windows steamed up and you cant see a thing.)

And then it get worse if i wipe it with anything, it just looks like rain on my windows, but on the inside!

Why is it soo bad?

Sam

If your car has any leaks anywhere this will make the problem worse, the wet carpet will keep moisture in the car as it tries to dry. Other things to try are getting a dry bag inside the car to absorb the moisture (mini mag did a review of these recently), use anti fog on the glass to help and make sure your heater is in good working order.

Ok, it doesnt have any leaks (that i know of) as the carpets are all bone dry.

When you say dry bag is that a name for something you can buy, or just like a bag with dry stuff in.....?? EDIT: just seen the link

And how fast is the air meant to blow out of the vents as mines not really blowing as such, its more warm air released being released from the vents.

Dry bag in my previous post is a clicky (just noticed you noticed >_<), yes it is something you buy to absorb moisture from the air, like the little silica bags you get in boxed electrical items that says 'do not eat' Mini vents don't blow like modern cars but should feel some flow.

my windows fog up quiet alot i had my heater sorted on friday.
it turns out it didnt have a thermostat (which is common during the summer apparently??) i had the heater flushed out whilst the thermostat was being fitted. now i get a nice amount of heat from my heater and it clears the windscreen pretty well, but as the guys at the garage said it always helps just winding your window down a little until the condensation disappears.

Yeahh, i will have to get my heater looked at because i just popped out and realised its the same blowing power for off, I and II soo something dodgey there. Its going in wednesday to get a 12v power socket fitted so ill get them to look.

winding your window down a little until the condensation disappears

Yeahh i would do that on a warmish day, but with these mornings its not a nice thing to do unless you got puffer jackets and all sorts on haha.

Will have to pop in Halfords tomorrow see if they got any of them bags.

Ratty has no heater fitted so no heat or de-misting, a leather and a squeegy
cure my probs... having the window slightly open does help..

ps I leave out at 06.15 for work..

Let the engine warm up before turning the blowers on. They get the heat from the engine temperature, and having them on straight away will only slow the process down!

like someone said earlier its only a mini heater so dont expect super results, i'd suggest getting used to having the window open :P just turn your music up and dance to keep warm i do

Is there felt-type sound deadening on the engine bulkhead inside the cabin? It extends up behind the heater where it's unseen and may get soaking wet. I got the last piece out from Huey just this summer (when I was putting in new carpet) by lying on my back on the floor and fumbling up behind the matrix. Ooer missus. For all I know it had been there since 1981.
I switched the heater on today for the first time since April and it worked fine, no misting up. The fan is one-speed and ok, not exactly gale force 10.
