How To Fit Door Mirror Fixing Nuts?
#1

I recently bought a new door. It has the two holes for the door mirror, but not the fixing nuts with the screw thread.
I've tracked down the parts I need here.. door mirror fixing nut (Mini spares).
Do I require a special tool or technique to fit them? I don't want to damage the door..
Thanks!

Where in 'South Bucks' do you live?
I'm in Marlow Dan. I think we met on the TMF campsite at IMM. By my memory you're not a significant distance from where I used to live?

Aha, the Scottish chap (I was going to say drunken Scottish chap but that seemed unfair, although accurate at the time!
). I asked because I was going to say I could bring you a RivNut tool and RivNuts but I just remembered that I only have metric mandrels for mine now and these are supposed to be 3/16" UNF rivnuts.

Well many thanks for the thought at least Dan, that's very kind of you.

Right.. maybe now I'm starting to get my head around this terminology.. or at least doing a good job of pretending! Half the battle is knowing what you need!
Looks like I need to get hold of (or find someone or local garage who has) a rivnut gun, plus some rivnuts of a specific size (3/16").

I used these, much easier, and much simpler to fit or replace if you need to.

If you go to the rack in Halfords that has all of the loose fuses, nuts bolts etc, in there somewhere are some plastic rivnuts that you just push into the holes in the door skins, then they grip like a rawplug when you screw the nut for the mirror into them.
I used these, much easier, and much simpler to fit or replace if you need to.

The rubber nuts that you are these ones, you can also get them from any motorbike shop. They also supply other sizes and the bolts to go with it. I use this ones all the time on the bike's fairing and they hold nicely.

@bananaman, @hekmat, loving the plastic/rubber options for ease of fitting and replacement without tool. Definitely going to look into the feasibility of this option.
