Hi,
My automatic SPI has developed a nasty oil leak at the oil filter (cartridge type). My guess is that the filter is not bolted tight enough, however I can't find the torque setting anywhere. Does anybody have this number, please?

Best regards,

Francis

Not sure of the torque figure ATM but dont overtighten it as you will buckle the housing and then it will never seal. You might need a new rubber o ring to make the seal.
The problem with them is that a lot of people presume they are not tight enough and then keep tightening until its too late.

If you look on the somerford website they have pdfs of the auto gearbox and list all the part numbers.

Sorry meant to add , have you joined the automatic mini register. Its a new site thats all about automatic minis and other a series autos.
http://autominiregister.proboards.com I think thats the website.

The seal goes hard and retains it's "new" shape if used again there is nothing to compress and hence the sealing characteristics are lost....... in some cases it is then over tightened and and this can cause the canister to deform which leads to even more leaking.... a new seal at this point will probably not help :dontgetit:
