20W50, non synthetic. Millers/Duckhams/Halfords stuff. Hope you have a new filter too.
Do a search, we answer this question every day!

yep it comes up a lot, only problem is theres lots of different answers, people seem to have different opinions and experiences.

I've just done an oil change on a 1993 Cooper Spi, used Halfords classic 20/50.

Now that Duckhams 20W50 has been discontined, halfords classic can be a good alternative.

I went to my usual Duckhams supplier this morning and had to get the Castrol Classic 20w50 instead. I'm sure it's as good. In fact any of the good brand 20w50 oils are fine, just not the regurgitated stuff unless you want to screw up your gearbox.
The very best, if that is what you want is, arguably, Valvoline 20w50, but it's expensive although if you have a very high-comp ratio engine, or much modified one it's worth the money.

Nothing wrong with ASDA/Morrison 20W/50 oil - just don't expect it to last 'for ever' .
