13" wheels, arches, koni shocks, extra gauges in the dash. I think thats the differences. The options brochure list is on Rob Lightbody's website.

Cooper S does not mean Cooper Sports, and the Sports pack was just an option pack. It could be fitted to any Mini, not just Coopers. Cooper Sport was a different model.

Quite a bit, engine, fuelling, brakes, interior. They are completely different models. The Cooper S hasn't been in production for about 30 years though. Cooper S doesn't mean anything, it's just an S. It just had to have a different name that sounded good and John Cooper decided to add an S. There is no factory production Rover Cooper S, they were killed off by British Leyland.

cheers for that, I know very little about my car as I have no owner manual, no documentation other than some restoration receipts and of course the v5 which states it's a Cooper sport Multicolour. I'm not the most mechanically minded either as you have probably guessed by now so I'm picking snippets off here all the time by asking stupid numpty questions...

But I am getting there !

It looks like what you have there is a very nice looking Mini Cooper with Sports option pack, optional full black leather interior and 'Classic' Almond Green paint.

The badging is standard, so although it has the John Cooper Garages sticker in the rear window, I suspect it hasn't had the JCG 'S' conversion. John Cooper Garages produced 'S' packs for the Rover Coopers with various options taking the power up to an alleged 90bhp. The conversions were Rover approved so didn't affect the warranty on the cars when new. There should be a plate riveted to the cross-member by the drivers' door if it has had the conversion.
