Me and the other half are both very intrigued by the so-called "Area 51" and have been reading on some websites some "proof" that Aliens exist there. Now I'm pretty sceptical about it all and know that these websites are written in a way that would have anyone believe what they want you to believe... but I am still very curious about these things :D

Found the so-called Area 51 on Google Earth and it looks like a vast military/air base, we were just saying we wonder if there's anything underground in that area and what goes on there... can anyone shed any light on it for a couple of curious minds? What do we all know about it?

Also anyone from Yorkshire or knows anything about places like this in Yorkshire... I'd be interested to hear from you  I know Ethel mentioned some place near Grassington on a topic aaaaages ago but I could never find it on Google Earth? Tell, tell :P

I was stopped a year or two ago for driving around near Menwith Hill looking "suspicious", the copper said something like it's an "area of interest" and they always stop suspect vehicles... made me a bit scared to drive about up there afterwards :( I wasn't exactly going to try storm an american spy base in a '79 Mini but there ya go. ;)

So what exactly are they trying to hide?

They're shown in grey on google map view, but if you switch to satellite view you can see them.

They filmed 'Independence Day' in Area 51! And then they claimed it was all just a movie... To hide the real thing by showing it and claim it's not what it is what it looks like what it is. If you get me :D

And if you see real aliens - this is what they do to you:

Seriously:
My grand parents life near an military base near munich which was the central comunications interception central base of the NSA in europe during the cold war! It was all crowded with gigantic antennas (some over 200m high!) and radomes and stuff. There were always LOTS of police and military police around. As a kid I always had a huge interest in that place with those big radomes and antennas... This place: http://en.wikipedia....Aibling_Station

And I guess thats just the normal procedure for protecting 'sensible' military facilities. ;) Espeially in a country that actually experienced terrorist attacks and is at war. So nothing 'creepy' hiding there, probably... But you never know :(

Most likely 'places of interest' will be either GCHQ installations, Munition stores, Intelligence centres etc so will be quietly but strongly protected, so don't be surprised if you go looking for maybe a few 28daysslater type pictures to be politely asked to go somewhere else ;) :D

anything of decent interest won't appear on google earth and the like as they do operate mainly underground or fronted in other government buildings.

oh by the way dont try looking for any government or military 'memorabilia' on ebay, SIB have a dedictaed team to watch that little puppy :(

i once made a delivery to wethersfield air base and i got chatting to the guard on the gate. he was telling me that there used to be all kinds of things going on during the cold war, things he couldnt go into. all i can tell you is that there are definately things under wraps.

theres an old base down in wales in a mountainside where stuff was tested or something for the nuclear weapons

apparently it still has to be tested for radiation every year to make sure levels are high.

It was HMS Forest Moor I mentioned, it's onlt a mile up the road from Menwith - Think it's shut now, guess our nuclear subs use Twitter instead :D

Aliens are for real, as you'll have noticed if you had a run in with the ones at Menwith in MoD Plod uniforms :(

I'm sure there's at least one ex nuclear command post (officially) open to the public. There was quite a network, but chillingly inadequate, I've known a few of the "lucky" few thousand that were expected to leave their families if they got the phone call 'n hide away in a bunker, so they could emerge after a couple of months to take charge of the charred remains. My favourite were the little pill boxes you used to see on barren moors. They just had a telephone inside so someone could call a distant command bunker every half hour to tell them if they were still alive.

I'm sure some RAF UFO file cleared the 30 year rule not too long ago and you can sign your PC up to "decode" space alien radio communications - SETI.

Have a look at this web site.

It's rather interesting.
