Hello. I am thinking about buying this radiator http://cgi.ebay.co.u...=item1c0df1368a. Is here anybody who has any experience with it? The price is really good. Thanks for answers.

this is the one i went for as it has a threaded hole in the front corner to fit a fan switch at a later date.

http://cgi.ebay.co.u...=item2a0088d70d

i also prefer the fact its cheaper :dontgetit: and the threaded hole/drain plug has a bolt in it, instead of a wingnut holding it shut.

comparing it to my previous minispares super2core, the only real difference is the fact this is all aluminium

The first one looks very poor in manufacture.

Darkscamp. Is the one you linked to 2 core?

yes its 2 core, i wont use any other rad as scamps run a bit hot.

i used to have the minispares super2core rad but my fan decided to shatter through it at cannon hill park.

saw this on ebay, and on inspection the core sizes and fin design are identical, just that this one is aluminium :)

just for info, there will be no customs charges as the item is under £100 :xxx:

due to the way they have done the bottom pipe, i did have to cut about an inch off the bottom hose for it to sit right but it still leaves plenty of pipe still on the radiator.

instead of a one piece angled pipe, its a 90* pipe with a 45* pipe joined onto it, you just push the bottom hose onto the 45* bit and not all the way on. i just thought i better tell you this as i dont want you to think its faulty if you get it. mines been holding strong for months now so i have full confidence that its a good rad.

i even thought it wasnt working at one point as the bottom of the rad wasnt getting hot like i was used to with my old rad. did a full flow test and didnt i look stupid when it turned out it was just seriously good at cooling :) :xxx:

when i get some pennies after christmas, i'll possibly be buying a few of these to sell over here at shows, for those who dont like buying from abroad

There really is NO NEED for an aluminium radiator! Buying from China must be very risky. Just use a standard rad in good order - it has plenty of capacity to cool a Mini engine !

Maybe some people want an aluminium rad for cosmetic purposes?? They are also strong and don't suffer from rust. As for buying from China, I don't see the issue, its the same as buying from any other Country :) . Alot of parts are imported, you might not even know that what your buying is from abroad. And some of us run performance engines and a standard rad just won't cut it cooling wise. If cooling wasn't an issue for some people, they wouldn't be making 2 and 4 core radiators! Anyway, I don't see the relevance of your post, the guy wants info on the radiator and experiences, not someones opinion on something he knows nothing about :xxx:

super 2 core radiator is more than capable, 4 core rads arn't true 4 core and no more efficient

wasn't it shown that 4 core rads are less efficient as the fan was still blowing the same, so was in pretty much had only 50% cooling power than the 2 core.

Darkscamp.

Any chance you could take some pics of the welding on yours? can't really see from the pic on there?

Thanks

Sam

i think you will find it doesnt matter how many cores you have, its the fin arrangement that gives the rad the cooling efficiency.

as for the rad, i would go for it. if it doesnt cope or last then you will know for next time.

please read the following, i think it will give you a better understanding of cooling a mini engine

http://www.minispare...x?ty=ad&aid=267

chappy: as for the welds, they are a bit chunky but are strong. had a mate who makes aluminium rads look at it and for him to make one with so-called perfect welds, would cost in the region of £250-300. What counts for me is that it works and to be honest it actually looks really good in the car
