Love the look of this car. Been following your spaz frame build aswell. I love the subframe but (sorry if you've already mentioned it) what was the reason for doing it? Surely its not any lighter, is it? If it is, what tubing are you using? CDS? Which tube bender are you using?
Sorry for all the questions, I've got a 16v mini and Im looking to redo my subframe in tube but Im trying to do some research first.

Hi King, cheers for the kind words! I haven't had it on the scales, but it seems about the same weight as standard. There are a few reasons for doing it...1. the original was bent infront of the towers, 20mm out of square...

2. It's a hell of a lot less likely to bend than the standard BL junk and 3. It looks cool (well, I reckon so anyway) lol.
I used 32 OD CHS, there really isn't any need to make the frame from CDS imo. For a roll over bar/cage, yes I would use it, but not for a subframe. All the box section frames are seamed section plus CHS (circular hollow section) is used for a lot of structural engineering! Just make sure you keep the seam on the inside of the bends. If you have it on the outside it can sometimes split. I did all the bends on a hydraulic manual bender with tight fitting formers.
