Basically, this morning, before school, i was trying to shift the alternator to tighten the fan belt, as it was slipping and squelling and making quite a bit of noise. So I went about trying to adjust, failed, and in the process managed to snap the connection on some wire. It was to the right of the spark plugs, and in line with them, on the front of the engine. Is this just an earth? And will it drain the battery? 'Cus I want to go to football practice tonight, but dunno if this is gonna sap my battery with the lights on.
Cheers!

Might be an idea to take a photo of the item in question, are you sure it was a wire and not the vac tube to the dizzy?

Don't know if it will cause a problem earthing, but if you're worried just wrap it in insulaion tape, and tape it somewhere out of the way i.e. not near the alternator or fanbelt!
edit - just seen the pic now, definately the temperature sender.

Or if the wire gets earthed, it will read 'Hot hot hot'.
