Hi people, i just bought a hif44 carb for my mini, and i wondered which pipes went were as it has 3 pipe connectors. can anyone help??

the furthest back is fuel feed, then the fuel over flow and last the oil breather :thumbsup:

theres a picture somewhere but most likey


bottom pipe near bulkhead is fuel inlet, pipe above that is breather/overflow

then a larger pipe top and front is engine breather pipe.

Daft question, does the engine breather connection need to be connected as it has a bolt jublee cliped insed it????????

The engine breather pipe should be connected as it creates a partial vacuum in the crank-case, helping to keep it clean & reducing the chance of oil leaks, most importantly from the primary gear bushes which, by design, cannot have an oil seal.

Great picture/explanation there IRO. And yes - the breather MUST be connected if you don't want oil leaks!

I don't know about the UK, but in germany breather filters are verboten since 1974!
Resp. it's illegal to 'dump' crankcase fumes in the air. They must be burned off.
