im presuming you mean 1 2 or 3 way speakers....
they are separated to aid sound quality so the big cone acts as a woofer and the little bit acts as a tweeter. that help at all?

Yeah dual cone look like they are a 2-way speakers but they aint, the little cone is supposed to help re-produce the gigh notes but i'm not entirely convinced, best to get proper 2 ways for the sake of an extra few quid.
