Hi,
The time has come to sort out the rotton floor on my 1980 mini 1000. What I would like to know is am I going to be better buying this panel
http://www.minispare...ty=pb&pid=37548 and all of the other seperate parts, (sills x member and all the other little brackets) spot welding it all together myself and then fitting it, or this one http://www.minispare...ty=pb&pid=38652. The total cost difference works out at about £50 more for the complete one but I would expect this one would be made on a jig so will be definately square and all little brackets and strengthening members would be in the right place.

Any ideas??

Thanks!! =]

if your planning on doing this work yourself a complete floor is a hell of a loy of work you will need to jig up the shell to stop it defoming and also with a non genuine body panel they all require fetiling to get a good fit. but would spend a bit more and get the assembled type.

Thanks for the reply, I know its a lot of work but the floor is rotton in both footwells, along the inner sills, heel board etc, so rather than lots of patches I just want to change the lot and make a nice job of it.

Any other opinions please?

I wish i'd fitted the full heritage floor to my project, by the time I'd bought 2 1/2 floors and a heelboard and then done some other repairs it would have been just as cost effective to replace the lot.

Have a look at Matrixs project thread, he did just this on his.

I was looking at 2 half panels but its an awful lot of seam welding rather than just spot welding the complete new one along the origional seams. I think it will make life a lot easier and quicker.

I will have a look at that project now, Thanks! :)

Have a look at my project, gives you a bit of an idea of the work involved.

Same as Shifty, I wish I had bought a complete floor for Ratty, I didn't jig the body and it
stayed true, this could be just luck....
