Hey there all! After being asked to start a thread along these lines in the stolen mini section, here is the story behind my new1275 that is replacing my dear departed 1098 Clubby.

I bought the 1275 of a kindly spanish fella called Manuel off ebay, she looked a bit scabby so there was not a lot of intrest by looking at the pics I reconed that though it was a little rough the car looked solid, and it came with a lot of spares (which I will go into later) so I toddled up the M4 in the transit to reading to go and have a closer look. On arrival Manuel strted her up and the motor ran like a little watch, only 1000cc at the mo, on going for a test drive I found the steering and handling to be nice and tight so i guessed the rubbers down front are all in good nick and the car braked well AND in a straight line! Back on the driveway over a cuppa I began lifting the carpets to see what delights this would reveal, to my pleasure everywhere was solid and sealed, also the fella has had it since 1987 and kept it garaged, by this point I had decided to take the car! Here are a couple of piccies.

Front wing, a little dinged and unpainted A panel, but good and solid!

The Interior is nice and clean too, with the welcome addition of an oil pressure gauge!

Anyway I bought the car and drove it home down the motorway back to swansea in some of the heaviest rain in ages, the true test of any mini! Well gotta say she never missed a beat crusing at 70-80 mph all the way home, and next day everything was dry under the carpets too! Anyway Its currently at the paint shop being sprayed top to bottom in black! Will update on spares and stuff when i get some pictures.

Wll after a good while at the painters, she was sat in the shop over most of winter while the compressor and airlines were frozen:( However at least the mini has been hidden away from all the road salt! Anyway, its gone right back to the metal all over, had some welding done round by the boot. The painter at Dulais motors has taken his time and got the body beautifully smooth. The picture below shows some marked high spots that he had left to do before it was ready for primer. Sorry about the picture quality but they are off the phone!

Nearly ready for primer.

Then once it was all flatted back the black went on, this week the bonnet and boot are going back on, the roff is getting re attached, I have some 12" wellers coming from ebay, my friend who's parent own a vinyl company has sorted out the 1275GT stripes in the same shade of yellow as the stolen clubby, and al lager gtstyle stripe to go over the top on the drivers side, thats gonna go on this week as well, and hopefully by the weekend I can drive it away!

The first coat of gloss black!

Whaen its all done I'll get some good quality pictures up, and then I'll be on the road, and in that time I can get the MG metro engine all sorted and ready to go in during the summer hopefully!
