Its your vacuum advance hose, basically it adjusts the ignition timing as the engine revs increase.
(now I wonder where you could find some coloured ones for just £3 posted??)
Hint......(its me!!)

Hi there,
This is cheap to fix.
You'll need This lead.
With the Air filter off (assuming it's a standard air filter), there's a small metal pipe on the carburetter itself which the 90 degree rubber end attaches to.
The straight rubber part attaches to the vacuum advance on the distributor. The throttle position (varying the revs) on the carburetter creates differing amounts of vacuum which advances the timing of the distriibutor different amounts. Your mini will run, but won't be very happy or perform well without the lead.
The rubber bits at each end of the lead get brittle and usually go.
