Model: Mini Mayfair
Year: 1985

Hi guys, I've been very busy on my mini lately, and would now like to do some engine dressing. I've been very inspired by miglia engine bays.

I would like to replace the engine bay fuel lines with stainless braided hose, (purely for tartyness, my taste.) I would like to have red end clamps on the hose, and and adaptors / angles would ideally be blue. I may aswell replace my inline fuel filter at the same time, so I'll look for a tarty servicable one >_< I have a single HS carb at the moment.

I'm asking where is the best online place to buy such items, for a fair price, as the prices I've seen vary massively for similar items, and I'm not sure what's best for my mini. Also, what's the best diameter / fittings etc.

Just for some inspiration, heres a gorgeous example of a 8 port mini showing the style I want to achieve.

Also, is it possible to make up a oil transfer pipe (betwean the block and filter housing) using similar fittings? A matching one would be lovely.

Thanks for reading!

Thanks for the links mate! Much appreciated.

A few more questions before I order:

What diameter hose should I be going for?
Do I need high or low pressure fuel hose? (its only for the bit between the fuel pump and carb)
And, the fuel inlet on the carb faces to the left of the engine, would it be better to have a elbow from this rather than a long loop of hose?

Oh, and that minispares oil transfer pipe is what I'm after, but would it be posssible to make one out some braided hose and some matching coloured fittings?

Thanks once again >_<

No one? I need to know what size fuel pipe I need, (6mm or 8mm? , 1/4 or 5/16?) if it needs to be high or low pressure, then I can choose the fittings to match the hose >_<

Thanks!

Earls is also worth a look.Good gear at reasonable prices - well more reasonable than goodridge anyway. >_<

Thanks for the link, that site may come very handy for something I have planned in the future. >_<

Found out I need 6mm (1/4) ID hose. Think I'm going to go with these, as I was impressed with the quailty when I saw them fitted to someones car.

With a inline fuel filter between the fuel pump and carb. Also, I may replace the float chamber fuel breather / overflow pipe with a stainless braided one.

Thanks for the links guys, much appreciated! I'll be sure to report back in my project thread with shiney goodness!

Just been tempted by some goodridge hose I found, thing is, they only make it in 5.56mm internal bore then jump to 8.73mm bore. Which one do I need fot the mini?

Needs to fit to the standard carb and fuel pump points.

Help! want to order tonight!

Thanks, JJ

Hi mate, you could go with the overbraid on it's own you can get it to fit over normal hose, merlin do it, expect others do too as that's pretty much what it is, is a bugger to cut mind.......tho the Demon Tweeks stuff looked like the puppy, I'd imagine you'd still need to buy the end finishers tho' as looks like it's per mtr and no mention of ends as doesn't ask for colour in the options, and they cost a bit......is a hoseclip with an alloy outer >_<)

can't get the hang of those dopey faces....... :shifty:

Thanks mate, the original plan was simple overbraid, but sometimes I cant help myself, and have decided to splash out on some Goodridge lines, same type fitted in the picture.

I decided to go with the 8mm (labelled goodridge -6) hose. I can also reduce it down if neccesary. Also a goodridge inline fuel filter (snazzy >_< ) and some rather tasty fittings.

All these little touches will end up creating the miglia inspired look I'm planning. Going to make up a oil transfer pipe in stainless, with red and blue fittings, along with some other tasty items.

Thanks once again guys! :shifty:

Use goodridge fittings, they are the best on the market. Forget earls or speedflow or aeroquip, they are all cheap replica's. I hope you have got your pennies saved because they are expensive.

www.merlinmotorsport.co.uk is the best place to get it. They have a whole workshop dedicated to Goodridge with thousands of parts on the wall! They will even make hoses up for you if you give them the length you need. They are brilliant.

The standard mechanical fuel pump is 1/4" ID hose. The goodridge stuff is way to big for it so you will need the mocal braided hose. Merlin do this too.

What ever you do, do not use Samco or any silicone hose because fuel and oil will destroy it!

Hmm, well I was planning on using this:

http://www.merlinmot...oduct_info.html

with one of these on each side

http://www.merlinmot...oduct_info.html

and having that betwean the fuel pump and carb, using these to clamp the godridge hose:

http://www.merlinmot...oduct_info.html

Will I not be able to clamp the 8.73mm bore goodridge hose to the carb and pump? and, more importantly will these fittings work with mocal hose? (goodridge size -6)

help! need a quick response, thanks!

If I go down to goodridge size -4 hose, (5.56 mm internal bore) will this work? However, I cannot find any goodridge fitting with JIC 4 which would match the JIC 4 filter.

Or, (possibly ideally,) will mocal 1/4 hose work with any size of goodridge 200 fittings?

Help!
