I've recently picked up a 60's Butlers map light which needs a bit of a refurb. The problem is that it didn't have any bulb in it, so am unsure of which type they take. Anyone have any idea??

I imagine someone on the Mini Cooper Register forum would probably know.

Cheers taffy, I did a search but nothing came up, so I've joined and will ask once I've passed the administrator test
Beforehand, anyone else have any idea?

I used to have one of those lights in my rally car, I seem to remember it being a bayonet fitting 5 or 6 watt, known as a type 989. I've just been looking around & I'm sure this was the one.

It looks big in the photo, but is only about the size of a standard torch bulb. If by any chance my memory has failed me & you can see a screw thread in there, it's a type 280, which looks just like an old type screw in torch bulb.

No problem, there probably aren't too many people around who have ever used those lights, they were quite a modern device in my rallying days. I wish I'd kept it!
