I thought you needed a wheel brace with a 11/16 end?

Either way don't use a socket set as it'll chew up those pressed on tin covers and their not supposed to come off.

if thats what i need then i'll get one mate, the covers on the nuts currently on the car at the minute are damaged so i'll purchase new ones and brace with an 11/16 end...thanks mate..dob

If they're the original rover cooper nut dont use18mm sockets (and i dont think a 17mm will either fit), use the proper socket, you can buy it from minispares. I think a commercial 11/16 wheel brace will do the job aswell.
