Went to pick up my replacement 998cc manual mini engine before from MINI-BITS bradford seemed like a nice set up they have a new unit and all lots of mini stuff as you would expect they seem like good chaps freindly and help full :dontgetit:

So anyway im seting out doing the auto to manual convertion. hears some picture's of my minis origonal engine still in the car and with the engine and stuby and all bits needed sat in front of it on a palet.

and a picture of my redbull ignition system :geek: just a littel bit chav haha owel i think looks pritty smart

so tomoro may start to clean the new engine up make look smart and start lableing up my loom to make easyer to put back together.

any way here they are.............

what color should i paint my engine ? and is there any spasific way to go about it or just wire bush the nasty bits maby a scuff up with some abrasive paper and hammerite it ?

Hi mate, re painting the engine, you should degrease it really well first. Use de-greaser like gunk or similar and a fresh paintbrush. I always do it with the engine hanging on the crane, over a drip tray.

Get all the cr4p off, you may even find when it's properly clean you don't need to paint it. The original paint is very durable.

You can paint it any colour you like!!! But, officially most Mini engines were roughly as follows-

1959-1970ish were BMC green
1970ish - 1982ish were black
1982 (A+ onwards) were yellow for a 998 and red for a 1275cc.

thanks well theres reminats of yellow paint on the block its abit rusty i think it shall be a yellow paint then. keep it origonal


any good ways of keeping water out of the engine and elecy componants as id like to leave the distributer and stuff on while i do it
