What i want is a sub in my car, dunno which 1 just yet i ahve been swayed to build my own sub enclosure to house a 6" sub Clicky

is there any cheaper amps that would be able to run this?
I dont want to cut drill or mark my car in any way so how do i go about wiring up this?
Plus how are amps/subs/headunits and power all connected as im new to this?
My budget is around £200 for everything so the 6 X 9 subs are now out of the question.

It says that the sub enclosure is 39cm wide, how? i dont have 39cm under the left hand side of my w reg 2000 cooper.

I was checking these out over the weekend to put on the rear seats. I know someone who has them and they sound very bassy for 6x9s.

Those 6x9's dont actually look too bad if you really dont want a sub in the boot. Plus you could wire them in parallel which the amp would see as 2 Ohm and make them louder.

the speakers are built for 4ohm load so would die very quickly if fed 2 ohm!

I dont think there are many speakers that are made for 2 ohm it is just way you present the load (speakers) to the amp.

I might be wrong though :fear:

Most amps give a 4ohm rating as its stated RMS power, if you buy a lot of the decent branded names they also state a 2ohm RMS output (which is normally higher than the 4ohm output).
Some amps even state that they can run 1ohm but these tend to be the expensive top end stuff.

Most speakers are also 4ohm, if you run 2 4ohm speakers on the same channel they can be connected to run in either 2ohm or 8ohm configuration.

So you can have an amp (which is rated at 150watts Rms @ 4ohm & 300watts Rms @ 2ohm) and connect a 4ohm 150watt rms sub to it

or

you can run 2 subs (150watt rms each) wired to run at 2ohms on the same amp with the wattage then running at 300watts rms, you don't need to switch anything on the amp to do this its just down to how the subs are wired up.
