Well about 3 months ago was the last time I had my 1998 1.3 MPI running, everything worked, engine ticked over on the first turn. In the mean time I completely stripped the brightwork off the car as it's getting a respray. But today, after sitting for 3 months, I replaced the battery as the existing one wasn't holding charge. I bought a 038 which is the standard battery, I wired it up correctly following the haynes manual. I turned the key and it's trying to start but it's not quite there, although close. I've checked and cleaned the spark plugs, added more fuel, checked the fuel pump, etc. in the fuel tank. I followed the troubleshooter guide in the back of the Haynes manual and still can't get her running. Now when I turn the key right round to the primed position the wipers come on and the fog light switch flashes. Can anyone help? I am truely stumped.
