ok am i right in thinking that whats a makes a gt a gt is the gearbox, but does it make any power diffrence?
if so could i put a gt gear box on my cooper angine and would it make a power diffrence to mine?

are you just some sort of feking retard, i want my car not a "clubby" yes im changing to a clubman front end and i want the gt gearbox if it makes more powerbut i carnt afford a "clubby" so ill jut do this but thanks for your useless answer

the gt had a close ratio gearset as the mk3 cooper s, i believe.

The early GT, with the 4 synchro remote change box, did indeed share the S ratios using a 22G1040 laygear. I think th elater GT with rod change used a normal ratio box though.
However, in reply to the orginal question, there is much more than the geasrbox that makes a GT a GT.
Especially the early or 'Mk1' GT which had a few mechanical changes over the normal clubman, the later GT was more of a styling spec exercise (apart from the 1275 obviously)
