ive had my 94 cooper for about 7 months and i dont know what to do it it!!
so far ive put 12x6 revs on and hi-lows on the back aswell as a maniflow back box and a new down pipe
new lamda new temp new most things but its come time for more power

so its a 94 cooper and acording to wikki its about 63 hp but im thinking its down on that as its never got any poke

so i was going to sort the engine but as im on a very slim amount of moooola i dont know what to do

like most people my mini would be alot better with 5 gears and more power so i was thinking rover k 1.4 16v or something along them lines
a good engine for base power then to ummmmph up later on but it seems to much money to do this and this car is my every day car

what do i do? if say i had £500 to spend on the engine or a new one?
and dont say metro turbo as if i ever got one it would need a rebuild and take me over whta i have
i can get a mg metro engine of a mate cheap but then its still only a 1275 running ?????? hp

just feel in a slump :D

ive got this

Have you considered having it tuned on the rolling road to round up any 'lost horses' so to speak? It is surprising how much better the car will drive after an hour on the rollers.

been looking on the 16v forum and looks like maybe £1500 will do a 1.4k
but would rather have some one do it who has done one so nothing goes wrong

Why not get a stage 3 head and maybe a SW5 cam? Then take it to the RR guy for a tune up?

I seriously doubt a RR will help his spi, i bet they'll say that spi arent mappable.
All they can give you is a power print, which doesnt help in that stage of tune.

A rolling road session would help to identify any current issue with the engine as it is though.

How about ditching the single point infection and get a nice carb?

I'm assuming you've got a 1275, so with a nice 1" 3/4 Carb and a decent head, you would be getting a good bit more out of your engine.

You can easily get it tuned once you're running a carb on a rolling road, get the most out of what you've got before considering taking the engine out.

Also bare in mind your insurance.

would like to run turbo but ive asked on turbo rofums but i cannot seem to get it clear in my head what to do

i can get a mg metro engine so i would need a turbo but dont want to splash out on a metro turbo setup as people know what ther werth so ther alot of money

i would love to build one myself but then agine dished pistens are not cheap lol but i know a place that can dish normal pistons

so would need dished pistons
turbo inlet
turbo
turbo mani
oil lines

all for under £500

lol if you know of a way please tell me
