Ignition Coil Earth?

hi all, on the ignition coil i cant remember what wires went were lol, i got the 2 spade connectors on, and the ht lead, but is there an earth lead or something on the otherside to the spade connectors?

You should have two wires on the + (positive) side of the coil, one for the rev counter and one is the live feed.
Then only one on the - (negative) side of the coil. This wire connects to your distributor and this is 'technically' where the coil earths.

Actually thats wrong the tacho feed comes off the negative side of the coil. If the tacho wiring is fitted as standard then you will only see one wire on the negative the tacho wire spurs off in side the loom

Depending wether ballast or non ballast you should have

Ballast 2 wires going to the positive on the coil (white/yellow and white/pink) 1 wire on the negative going to the dizzy through the loom white/black

Non ballast will just have one wire on postive (white) and one on negative (white/black)

I have 4 wires on mine, 2 on positive and 2 on negative. What would the 4th one be for please?

what colour are they, it may be a tacho wire, I'd guess not all spur off inside the loom, they just do on the 89 / 90 models Ive dealt with.

Id have to get back to you on colours, my cars not here, its a 1988 and does have a rev counter

I'd go with rev counter, probably find both are white/black on the negative.
