it's getting close to that time of the year, and i've just cancelled my policy with Direct Line. They didn't offer me enough discount for staying loyal.

Anyway, i wanted to find out more about the "car enthusiast" insurers, Footman James, Adrian Flux etc. I just looked on Footman James' website and they explain the policy holder has to be over 25 years old, but i'm sure i've read about members on this site, under 25, taking out a policy with them.

can anyone explain? I'm really hoping i can get a good quote this year, last year was £1100 ;) which made my bank account very sad.

footman james say only over 25, but if you give them a ring they will sort you something out... i dont think you get no claims with them tho!

if i was you i would try chuchill its who im with and mines only 900 fully comp in my own policy, let me know how it goes!

When i was looking i went through all the specialist insurers but found Miniworld insurance really good. great price with free breakdown cover. think a few years ago when i was under 25 it wasnt a problem.... being a little older helps tho, 28 fully comp, points declared and mods only £190.00 getting older does have its perks!

Will do guys, thanks. I really don't see why you have to declare ALL modifications. Things like alloy wheels or wide arches don't really make a difference to the performance of the car ;)

but do give an insurance company a reason not to pay out if you don't tell them

just think about how much money that would save them if they could get rid of 50% of the claims in a year

footman james do say that. i got refused 2 years ago, however last year i called them up as a last chance to find a price that wasnt silly, and to my complete shock they offered me a classic policy, which came to half the price of other companys. this was despite the car being my daily drive, modified and me being 19. best to call them. you dont get no claims as such but it is still recorded, so if you change insurers footman james can write a letter stating you have X years without making a claim. more and more insurers are now accepting this method.

only annoyance ive had is earlier today when i called them up to extend the mileage on my policy from 3000 to 4500, and they wanted nearly £100 for it! no chance!
