Hi all
I have covered the underside of my car a while back with stone chip HB 950.
I now want to paint over it and will be doing so with cellulose paint same as the body. (I appreciate the arguments about 2 pack but celly it is and I have the paint already).
The data sheet says about using an adhesion promoter prior to top coat.
My paint supplier seems to think it's not needed but the data sheet says otherwise and I don't want to risk the paint flaking off after a few months
Has anyone any experience of this? Do I really need it? If so, what is the preferred brand to use with celly?
When I get to the paint, (with or without the promoter) can I go straight on with topcoat or will I need primer first?
Any advice or experiences welcomed
Thanks in advance
Steve

I have primed then painted and also just painted over stonechip successfully.
Either way its a good practice to key it before application. I give it a light rub with 320 and a red scotchbrite if applying a solid colour.
I use 500 and grey scotchbrite when applying basecoat and laquer.
If your prep is good theres no need for promoter.
