Generally de-seemed minis are not something which command a high price, mainly because only the 'older' driver will be able to insure it, I see that you're still fairly young in years, how much does it cost you to insure, and do they know it's deseamed ?

Tell your insurance now, as this is a major modification to the shell... I would not be surprised if they cancelled your policy there and then...

It's not as simple as a ticking off..

That's effectively what you're doing driving around with undeclared modifications.
Wait, bad example. What I'm trying to say is that you're paying for something that when you need to come to use it won't let you.

First rule of buying a car, any car, check the insurance premium first especially if it's modified, actually that's second, HPI check comes first...
But I hope you can see why such a modification has an impact on the price... there's nothing structurally wrong with a deseamed mini ( as long as it's done properly ) however repair costs escalate proportionally.

You were lucky then, but that was a 3rd party crashing into you... I suspect your insurance company didn't pay out a bean.. if they are paying out, then things may well be different.

I crashed mine a few months ago. And because I hadnt declared I had got a CD player and 2 front spots fitted they werent going to pay out and I would have got charged for driving a car with no insurance.
I however managed to wangle it but in return I didnt get an insurance payout I just got to keep my car instead (which was f#cked). I did however have to pay an extra £100 to insure a CD player I got free and some spots that were £20 in order for this to happen.
Seriously, you need to tell them. Its a major modification to the shell, and the insurance company would perhaps argue that it affected the overall safety of the shell.
Imagine if on a rainy day you went into the back of another car, like I did. And had to pay for the costs of repair to the other vehicle. Then had to go to court over driving with no insurance and then have to pay court costs and compensation for the injuries in the other car?
