Would need to see detailed pictures of both the mini as it is now and the deseaming procedure...

Generally de-seemed minis are not something which command a high price, mainly because only the 'older' driver will be able to insure it, I see that you're still fairly young in years, how much does it cost you to insure, and do they know it's deseamed ?

oh right :tumble: why would insurance be more when its deseamed? i've never heard of this before, the guy i bought it off said it was worth more cause of it. i haven't told my insurance cause i didn't know it mattered.

If you have a prang, then replacing panels is an absolute nightmare...

Tell your insurance now, as this is a major modification to the shell... I would not be surprised if they cancelled your policy there and then...

then why would i tell them? i'm only gonna have the car for another couple of months maximum, i'll just run it as i have been non the wiser that that affects my insurance premium, i barely put any miles on it as is at the moment anyway. i just need it as a run around to college till christmas.

So what happens, when it's raining one day on the way to college and you aquaplane and hit a row of people standing in a bus queue, your insurance look at your car and say 'modification not notified to insurance company' and they walk away leaving you with no insurance.

It's not as simple as a ticking off..

Would you pay into a life policy which is guaranteed to never pay out if you died?
That's effectively what you're doing driving around with undeclared modifications.

Wait, bad example. What I'm trying to say is that you're paying for something that when you need to come to use it won't let you.

you're saying that but i had a crash earlier in the year when a taxi ploughed into me, tearing the front end off my old mini, i had modifications to that car, many in fact, sports pack, 13 inch minilites, hif44, maniflow, buckets, race wheel... and they charged me 25 pound for not declaring modifications, then payed out. why would i want to tell them then lose my insurance so i can't get about for the next month? and what about prior to this conversation when i was non the wiser, does that mean i wouldnt get payed out? i think the mini dealer who sold it to me has ripped me off, with all the bother of replacing things, then this :tumble:

You were lucky then, but that was a 3rd party crashing into you... I suspect your insurance company didn't pay out a bean.. if they are paying out, then things may well be different.

First rule of buying a car, any car, check the insurance premium first especially if it's modified, actually that's second, HPI check comes first...

But I hope you can see why such a modification has an impact on the price... there's nothing structurally wrong with a deseamed mini ( as long as it's done properly ) however repair costs escalate proportionally.

I crashed mine a few months ago. And because I hadnt declared I had got a CD player and 2 front spots fitted they werent going to pay out and I would have got charged for driving a car with no insurance.
I however managed to wangle it but in return I didnt get an insurance payout I just got to keep my car instead (which was f#cked). I did however have to pay an extra £100 to insure a CD player I got free and some spots that were £20 in order for this to happen.

Seriously, you need to tell them. Its a major modification to the shell, and the insurance company would perhaps argue that it affected the overall safety of the shell.

Imagine if on a rainy day you went into the back of another car, like I did. And had to pay for the costs of repair to the other vehicle. Then had to go to court over driving with no insurance and then have to pay court costs and compensation for the injuries in the other car?
