The gear box was one of the last things to get fixed!
I had never attempted a project like this before. Had I known what would be involved before I started, I might have scrapped it.
Basically the only panels that did no need repair or replacement were the roof, bonnet and boot lid.
We did a bit of tinkering under the bonnet whilst the engine was out and the gearbox away. We had it on the rolling road at Mini Sport and it was turning out 61.5 BHP at 5,800 and a true 107MPH. Not bad for a 998cc.
It has been really reliable since it went back on the road.

It was named the "Phoenix" due to setting fire to it whilst welding in the wheel arch. It need a complete new interior. fortunately none of the body panels suffered heat damage
